The Stauning KAOS 2017 is an early expression of Stauning Whisky and represents the experimental phase in which the distillery formed its identity. At Stauning, KAOS represents a combination of different distillates, bringing together smoke, malt, and grain in a single bottling.

This edition was distilled in 2013/2014 and bottled in April 2017 , at 47.3% ABV. It's a whisky that deliberately deviates from classic style rules, focusing primarily on character and balance rather than age.

The nose reveals soft smoke, grain, a light sweetness, and a subtle spiciness. The palate is round and slightly oily, with notes of malt, smoke, pepper, vanilla, and a touch of dry wood. The finish is medium-long, with lingering smoke and a slightly bitter grain texture.

This is n't a heavy peat bomb , nor is it a modern "show-off" bottling, but it is an interesting snapshot of Stauning's early years . Especially suitable for enthusiasts who want to follow the evolution of new distilleries or are looking for something different from the classic Scotch profile.
