Blackadder Balblair 2012 BA – Raw Cask Oloroso Sherry (2022)
Blackadder Balblair 2012 BA – Raw Cask (Oloroso Sherry)
This is Blackadder as it was meant to be: pure, unfiltered and fully cask-driven .
A Balblair single malt , distilled in November 2012 and bottled directly from an Oloroso sherry cask after 10 years of maturation , without dye or filtration. What's in the bottle is exactly what the cask produced.
In the glass, this bottling displays a deep amber color with coppery reflections. The nose opens with raisins, prunes, and walnuts , followed by honey, orange peel, and soft spices. The Oloroso influence is clear yet restrained, beautifully intertwined with the elegant, slightly fruity character of Balblair.
The palate is full and powerful , with notes of caramel, cocoa, and dark sugar, complemented by spice and oak. The higher alcohol content provides structure and depth without being harsh. The finish is long, warm, and layered, with a lingering dry sherry note.
As with every Blackadder Raw Cask, it's not about roundness or convenience, but about authenticity and character . Each bottle is a snapshot of a single cask—and that cask no longer exists.
