M&H “The Last One” – Batch 1 (2018)
M&H “The Last One” – Batch 1 (2018)
Young Single Malt · Ex-Red Wine & Ex-Bourbon · 46% · 500 ml
The Last One is a historic bottling from M&H Whisky Distillery, marking the culmination of their very first production phase . This release was bottled in 2018, just before M&H officially transitioned to their full-fledged single malt whiskies. It is, quite literally, the last one of the pioneering period.
Matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-red wine casks , this young single malt displays a surprisingly mature character. The nose reveals sweet malt, honey, red fruit, and a light spiciness . On the palate, it's smooth and approachable, with notes of vanilla, grapes, soft wood influences, and a fresh, slightly vinous touch . The finish is medium-long, warm, and pleasant.
This isn't a complex powerhouse, but an honest, charming whisky that perfectly showcases where M&H comes from and how their style has evolved.
Why this bottle is interesting:
-
Historic M&H bottling (pre-Apex period)
-
First generation “Young Single Malt”
-
Ex-bourbon & ex-red wine barrel maturation
-
Ideal for discovering or comparing with later Apex releases
-
Very accessible style (also for novice whisky drinkers)
A beautiful entry-level bottle for M&H, and a nice reference for enthusiasts who want to follow the evolution of this distillery.
