Waterford Bannow Island – Edition 1.2 (2020)
Waterford Bannow Island – Edition 1.2
Irish Single Malt – Single Farm Origin
The Waterford Bannow Island Edition 1.2 embodies the core of Waterford's DNA: one farm, one harvest, and complete transparency . The barley for this bottling comes from Bannow Island , a coastal area in southeastern Ireland, where saltwater and soil structure have a distinct impact on the whisky's character.
Distilled in 2016 and bottled in 2020 after four years of maturation , at a robust 50% ABV . Maturation took place in a combination of bourbon casks, French wine barrels, virgin oak, and Oloroso sherry , allowing for more layering than some other Single Farm editions.
Flavor profile
The nose is malty and fresh with green apple, citrus, floral notes, and light woody spice. The palate is powerful yet controlled: grain, pear, citrus peel, soft tannins, spiciness, and a subtle salty note. The finish is dry, mineral, and medium-long, focusing on purity and structure rather than sweetness.
